PARTNERSHIP PROGRAM HELPS PETS FIND HOMES

In an effort to increase adoptions, Gloucester-Mathews Humane Society has enrolled in  “The Very Best Pet Network” program. “The Very Best Pet Network” program is a partnership between Wal-Mart, Purina and local animal shelters. The program provides support and visibility to help increase adoptions for homeless animals. Not only does this program help connect these pets to good homes but through Wal-Mart and Purina we are eligible to receive awards and grants to assist our local Humane Society in support of our programs.

Wal-Mart and the Gloucester-Mathews Humane Society post pictures of animals available for adoption at both entrances of the Wal-Mart store. When people come to the Humane Society to visit the pets and adopt those pets, the Humane Society asks those adopters to write success stories that convey how the pet has touched their life. The Humane Society will turn those stories into “The Very Best Pet Network”.   Volunteers from the Gloucester-Mathews Humane Society bring adoptable animals on Thursdays or Fridays every week and set up in the Wal-Mart pet department. The volunteers are happy to answer any questions and tell you all about available pets.

By the end of the year, 25 shelters earning the most points will receive a cash grant to assist them in their mission to care for and find homes for all the companion animals. By adopting from the Humane Society you are saving the life of a companion animal.
