The
goal of the Gloucester-Mathews Humane Society adoption program is to
find a loving, permanent home for each animal in our care.
Our adoption process seeks to make
the best possible match between you and your new companion, to
ensure a lifelong commitment. We do our best to match the animal's
needs and temperament with the adopter's lifestyle. We place
thousands of animals in loving homes every year and are proud to say
most adoptions result in lifelong relationships.
Before any pet is released, the adoptive family is carefully
screened to assure that a healthy, happy environment will be
provided.
In addition, ShelterCare Pet Insurance will
be provided at no cost to the adopter for 30
days. This insurance covers almost anything that
is not a pre-existing condition, and can be
continued by the adopter through several
different types of policies. Also, adoptive
families are given a certificate for a free
examination by participating veterinarians
Effective July 1, 2010 all dogs and
puppies adopted from the GMHS will already
be spayed or neutered and will have been given
their basic inoculations AND vaccinations for
rabies (if the animal is of age), distemper and
parvo.
All of our adopted cats receive their basic
necessary inoculations, except for rabies, which
must be given by a licensed veterinarian. All
unaltered cats must be spayed or neutered. At
the time of adoption, the GMHS issues a 25%
spay/neuter discount coupon which is honored by
participating veterinarians. After the
spay/neuter surgery, the adoptive family will
receive a $25 adoption fee rebate (proof of
surgery by a licensed veterinarian is required
before the $25 rebate is issued.)
Please allow approximately 30 to 40 minutes
for the adoption process.
